Around Cader Idris - A guide to activities in the area around Cader Idris in Mid-Wales

Map of the area

Cader Idris is a mountain in the centre of a beautiful area of Mid-Wales bounded by two estuaries: the Mawddach the Dovey.

This site describes a large number of walks, climbs, visits and drives for anyone holidaying in the area between the beautiful Mawddach and Dyfi estuaries that bound the Cader Idris mountain range.

Most of the descriptions are within the area bounded by the coast road from Dolgellau through Tywyn, Aberdyfi and on to Machynlleth - the A493, and the more direct inland route from Machynlleth to Dolgellau - the A487. Some activities are just outside this area, and some drives do go further afield but assume that you are based in the area.

It is worth buying the OS Explorer Map OL23. For walking there are also good Kittiwake publications, that are easily available from tourist shops, and have many additional walks around Dolgellau and Tywyn.

Each description can be downloaded as a pdf to print by selecting the "pdf" icon.
